Well, yesterday was a year since I've been doing these little reviews and thoughts on the films I see so I thought I'd do like the critics circles are in America at the moment and give my best of 2008. Now this solely applies to films released in the UK this year so for example if I didn't think that There Will Be Blood was incredibly overrated I could mention it if I wanted to as it got released here in February. I would do tv stuff as well but I've not seen this year's The Closer or Weeds from America so my actress list at the very least would be very uninformed.
Best Film : La Antena (http://inthemoodforblog.blog.co.uk/2008/02/16/la_antena_the_aerial~3735414)
Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role : Benicio Del Toro - Things We Lost in the Fire
Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role : Laura Linney - The Savages (http://inthemoodforblog.blog.co.uk/2008/01/25/the_savages~3633458)
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role : David Strathairn - My Blueberry Nights (http://inthemoodforblog.blog.co.uk/2008/02/21/my_blueberry_nights~3759893)
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role : Hiam Abbass - The Visitor (http://inthemoodforblog.blog.co.uk/2008/09/23/impersonation-vengeance-and-immigration-4768976)

Best Achievement in Direction : Esteban Sapir - La Antena
So for the tv stuff I really enjoyed Kenneth Branagh in the second Wallander last week, so far best actress would be a toss up between Claire Foy in Little Dorrit and Anna Friel in the second series of Pushing Daisies (she has a LOT more to do this time round). Supporting actor I adored Zeljko Ivanek in John Adams and Kristin Chenoweth is stealing the show weekly in Pushing Daisies. No surprise that would be the best thing on television for me even if the ABC have cancelled it. Bloodless savages.
Should be a round up very soon (basically one more film and I'll do one) and I should be seeing Blindness today or tomorrow so there'll be some updates fairly soon here.
